The Detroit-based Sphinx Organization continues its efforts to bring more diversity to the performing arts – especially classical music. The organization’s Director of Programming at the Sphinx Organization, Andre Dowell; as well as Caen Thomason-Redus, Director of Corporate Relationships, who discuss the Sphinx Organization’s upcoming SphinxCON conference and the dire search diversity solutions in classical music.
Plus, an international organization that serves children and communities, the Kiwanis Club, comes home to where it all started to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Eric Sabree, Jeanette Harris, and Dr. Barbara Jean Johnson join us to discuss the organization’s mission and special upcoming events.
In addition, Kim Trent looks back at important moments in Detroit’s black history. Featured stories include: Grant Hill, Stevie Wonder, and Rev. Dee Dee Coleman.
