American Black Journal (ABJ), the longest running public (minority) affairs show on Detroit Public Television (DPTV) will webcast live from the Coleman A. Young International Airport in Detroit on May 15— during the “Detroit Fly-In.” The event, organized by the Friends of Detroit City Airport in conjunction with the Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Aerospace Technical High School Community PTA/PACSA is designed to introduce youth to the field of aviation and career opportunities available through the community’s public “vocational technical” school system.
Hosted by Stephen Henderson, Pulitzer Prize winner and Editorial Page Editor of the Detroit Free Press, the show will feature a panel conversation with community stakeholders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers and education. Expert panelists will also discuss education and ways updated curriculum strategies for technology and skilled trades can increase employment and leadership opportunities for Detroit students in the transportation industry and other areas. The webcast will also include coverage of various activities taking place that day as well as interviews with attendees.
