10/5/14: The HistoryMakers / Journey to Success Program

Posted by American Black Journal Editor on

We talk with three Detroiters who are being celebrated as African-American HistoryMakers: Martha Reeves, Mel Farr, and George Shirley. Their stories are included in the nation’s largest archive of African-American oral history, now housed at the Library of Congress. Plus, Vista Maria, a local organization that provides hope and healing to young women, is now helping youth succeed in schools and in their chosen careers. We’re joined by Greg Everett, Journey to Success Program Director, and Gary Payne and Elsie Soto, Journey to Success participants. Also, Ken Coleman highlights important moments in Detroit’s black history. Episode 4302.
