Directions

The University of Michigan Detroit Center is located in Orchestra Place, at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard/Mack Avenue.    The street address is 3663 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.   It is located a little more than a mile from the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. 

Please be aware that Woodward Avenue is undergoing major construction for the M-1 Rail System, due to open in 2016.   There are a number of street closings and detours around the construction, and Woodward Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction.   Mapping program directions may not always reflect the reality on the ground, so please allow extra travel time.  View Map >

Parking

There are two nearby parking options:

• The Orchestra Place parking structure is located behind Orchestra Place.  The entrance can be reached from Cass Avenue and from Parsons Street.   Spaces are available on the third floor and above at a cost of $7.   An elevator is available.   When you leave the elevator, walk across the courtyard into Orchestra Place.
• Parking is also available across the street in the Wayne State University Pharmacy Garage.   The garage is located at 3717 John R at the corner of Mack Avenue, adjacent to the Whole Foods store.   When parking, you can pull a ticket and pay cash when you leave, or swipe a credit card in and out.   The maximum parking charge is $10/day.

Lunch

The UM-Detroit Center is providing pizza and salad for lunch.  People with special dietary needs are encouraged to bring their own lunch.   There is a Starbucks and a Whole Foods store across the street, but no other immediate options.
